The Board of Directors hereby acknowledges that Shirley A. Samis has served as the second and longest serving President of this foundation from 1979 to 2013. The Board wishes to thank Mrs. Samis for her dedicated stewardship and management of the foundation and continuing its mission of serving the unmet needs of the public by remaining faithful to DA’s original mission. Through her direction we also acknowledge that people do not live by bread alone and need creative artistic opportunities to express their humanity. During her tenure the foundation has donated more than $1,500,000 to more than 100 worthy organizations which serve the needs of people in New York and around the world.
The Board wishes Mrs. Samis well on her 94th birthday and looks forward to more years in her current President Emerita role.
This resolution is unanimously approved on the 29th day of April 2018.
