Internship Endowment Fund

How do these students get their first job?

Imagine a world where your assistance can make that happen. At the David Aronow Foundation we are committed to providing young students of all backgrounds with a chance to reach their potential through paid internships that give them the experience and connections to succeed in their field of choice. We invite you to learn more about how you can make a difference through the City College of New York Internship Endowment Fund.

Dedicated to giving the next generation a leg-up

The Power of Inclusion

At David Aronow Foundation, we believe that the best solutions come from the people who are most affected by the problem. City College President Vince Boudreau told us that internships are today what a college diploma was in a previous era: the requisite entrée to professional work culture and the first rung of a career ladder.

Many CCNY students are the first in their families to go to college; their parents have neither the professional connections to secure them intern opportunities, nor the financial means to support them if they are asked to work for free. It was with that in mind that President Boudreau asked the DAF to help.

The Internship Endowment Fund is a response to his call: students will now be paid for their internship time and be able to build up professional relationships with employers that result in job offers after graduation.

David Aronow

“DA” was the youngest of five surviving children in an immigrant family—and the only member of his generation to have the chance to go to college: City College. Although tuition was free, all of his siblings had foregone their aspirations to higher education, working instead to keep the family afloat. DA, too, continued to work through his college years—as do many City College students today. Once he graduated and knew professional success, he committed to sharing the benefits of his education: first with his extended family, their children and grandchildren, and then with people of diverse ethnic backgrounds who were intent on improving their lives.

OUR TARGET / YOUR PLEDGE

In order to constitute a self-perpetuating endowment that will fund as many as four CCNY Scholars a year in their summer internships, we need to raise $300,000 over the next 5 years.

We are asking all those who have benefitted from the DAF’s generous support during their own education to help us meet that goal.

Please give generously.
